Charming and adorable Boy and Girl "Culprits" and "Out of Danger" #56/A & B, TMK3 (Pair), Made in Germany c.1960-1972. Molded by master sculptor Arthur Moeller in 1936. Hummel did not make TMK1 in the number 56/A. This boy and girl pair are beloved by collectors and non-collectors - Hummel used the the same sculpture to create lamps as well. The intricate Hummel details and colors are stunning! The Small Stylized Bee with "W. Germany" below is marked on the bottom of both pieces. Hummel figurines or simply Hummels) are a series of porcelain figurines based on the drawings of Sister Maria Innocentia Hummel, O.S.F. The sketch art of Sister Maria Innocentia Hummel began to appear in the 1930s in Germany and Switzerland, mostly pastoral drawings of children. From 1931-1946 she created more than 600 paintings. After the end of World War II, the popularity of Hummel figurines grew as American soldiers stationed in West Germany began sending the figurines home as gifts.
